‘Milan Art Fair Announces Theme of ‘No Time No Space’ for Return’
Milano Art Week is set to kick off with the highly anticipated 2024 edition of Miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair. Running from April 12 to 14, with a preview day on April 11, Miart will see the participation of 178 galleries from 28 countries. Under the leadership of Director Nicola Ricciardi, this year’s edition will introduce two new sections inspired by the theme “no time no space.”
Drawing inspiration from a song by Italian musician Franco Battiato, the fair aims to transcend geographical and temporal boundaries. The new section “Portal” will feature eight small-scale exhibitions curated by Abaseh Mirvali, aimed at transporting visitors to different worlds and times through solo shows and projects.
Another highlight is the ongoing project “Timescape,” which will evolve over the next three years. Galleries participating in “Timescape” will present micro exhibitions that challenge conventional boundaries of history and disciplines.
In addition to the exciting lineup at Miart, the fair will also host presentations inspired by the Biennale de Venezia. Galleria dello Scudo, Verona, will pay tribute to Venetian Spatialism with artists like Emilio Vedova and Tancredi Parmeggiani. Other galleries will showcase artists selected by Biennale curator Adriano Pedrosa, such as Louis Fratino at Galerie Neu, Berlin.
Miart promises to feature museum-quality artworks across its various sections. Visitors can expect to see iconic pieces like David Hockney’s “Caribbean Tea Time” at Galerie Lelong and Co., Paris / New York, an immersive installation by Vivian Suter at Kaufmann Repetto, and works by Alberto Burri at Tornabuoni Arte.
