‘Microsoft’s Copilot AI is set to dominate the web browser I love’

Generative AI technology is becoming more widespread, with popular chatbots such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini available on mobile apps and desktop websites. Some internet browsers even have genAI capabilities built-in, allowing users to easily input prompts.

Recently, Google and Microsoft have been exploring ways to integrate their chatbots directly into their browsers. Google is testing Gemini chats from the Chrome address bar, while Microsoft is experimenting with incorporating Copilot prompts into Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge already offers easy access to Copilot through a sidebar button, regardless of whether users have a Microsoft account. This integration makes Copilot more accessible in Edge compared to Gemini in Chrome.

Microsoft is now testing the feature of displaying Copilot prompts directly in the Edge address bar, as reported by WindowsReport. While this is a convenient addition for Copilot users, it may be frustrating for those who prefer other chatbots like ChatGPT or Gemini. However, users can always explore the wide range of extensions available for different AI chatbots, as most Chrome extensions are compatible with Edge as well.
