‘Microsoft executive claims emergence of a novel digital entity’
The head of Microsoft’s AI division has proposed a new way of thinking about artificial intelligence, suggesting that we should view it as a new “species” instead of just a technological advancement.
During a recent TED talk, Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and current CEO of Microsoft AI, shared his vision of a future where AI will play a significant role in our daily lives. He believes that AI should be seen as “digital companions” and “new partners” that will accompany us on our life journeys.
Suleyman predicts that AI will become so integrated into our lives that we will start to view AI-powered devices, like Siri, as virtual beings rather than mere tools. This shift in perspective will be facilitated by AI’s language capabilities, allowing for more seamless interactions and responses.
According to Suleyman, AI will possess near-perfect intelligence and exceptional emotional intelligence, making them kind, supportive, and empathetic. They will serve as companions, confidants, colleagues, and friends, capable of speaking every language and processing vast amounts of information beyond human capacity.
In essence, Suleyman envisions a future where AI will not just be a tool but a part of our lives, enhancing and enriching our experiences in ways we have yet to imagine.
