Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX achieves groundbreaking efficiency record
Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX Sets New Efficiency Record in Arabian Desert
The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX has achieved a new energy consumption record during a journey across the Arabian Desert, surpassing its previous milestone set on a trip from Stuttgart to Silverstone in the U.K.
This latest achievement showcased the car’s remarkable efficiency, covering a variety of terrains from busy city streets to the vast openness of the desert. The Vision EQXX logged an impressive electric power consumption rate of 13.5km/kWh, improving on its previous 12km/kWh figure.
The record-breaking run commenced from the Mercedes-Benz Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the destination set at the newly opened Mercedes-Benz Brand Center in Dubai, U.A.E, totaling a distance of 1,010km. Despite the challenging conditions of the desert heat, with temperatures soaring up to 34 degrees Celsius, the Vision EQXX demonstrated its advanced thermal management system by maintaining optimal performance while keeping the cabin cool with minimal energy impact.
Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz highlighted the effectiveness of the car’s solar roof during the desert expedition. Featuring 117 solar cells, the roof powered the vehicle’s ancillaries, reducing their reliance on the high-voltage system and generating 1.8kWh of energy throughout the drive.
This groundbreaking achievement solidifies Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to hyper-efficiency and futuristic drivetrain design, positioning the Vision EQXX as a pioneering force in the realm of electric vehicle technology.
