Live streaming of Edinburgh Fringe shows on ITVX

ITVX to Live Stream Comedy Shows from Edinburgh Festival Fringe

ITVX, the streaming platform, is set to bring comedy live from the Edinburgh Festival this August. They have commissioned four hour-long episodes under the title “ITVX Presents: Edinburgh Fringe Live”, featuring content broadcasted live from the arts festival. Each show will showcase specially curated compilation shows with performers presenting highlights from their festival performances.

ITV confirms that the live stream will capture the magic, chaos, and hilarity of the Edinburgh Fringe directly to viewers, offering a genuine Edinburgh experience with new line-ups each night featuring some of the most exciting comics and breakthrough stars of 2024. Audiences can expect to be fully immersed in the anarchic and irreverent atmosphere as if they were physically present at the festival. The shows will be streamed live on ITVX and will be available for catch-up viewing for 30 days afterward.

The episodes are being produced for ITVX by NextUp Comedy, the company behind the popular comedy streaming subscription service of the same name. With experience in live streaming comedy shows post-pandemic, the NextUp team is well-equipped to deliver high-quality content for viewers.

While the broadcast dates, venue details, and show line-ups for “ITVX Presents: Edinburgh Fringe Live” will be disclosed closer to August, it is expected to be one of the many comedy offerings on the platform this summer. Viewers can also anticipate the return of Alan Carr’s Changing Ends Series 2, new sitcom Piglets, and the comedy series Slip, among other entertaining programs.

Nana Hughes, ITV’s Head of Comedy, expressed excitement about the upcoming comedy season, highlighting the diverse range of content that will be available to viewers. Craig Morris, Managing Editor of ITVX, noted the increasing popularity of comedy on the platform and assured that the new programs will be a valuable addition to the extensive library of comedy content already available on ITVX.
