Live Screening of Festival de Cannes Opening Ceremony in Cinemas in France.

The Festival de Cannes is thrilled to announce that it will once again be sharing its Opening event with cinema-goers this year. The Opening ceremony and film will be broadcast live in hundreds of French cinemas, thanks to the collaboration of the Festival de Cannes, France Télévisions, FNCF (Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français), and CNC (Centre National du Cinéma), with the support of AFCAE (Association Française des Cinémas d’Art et d’Essai).

In 2023, over 780 cinemas in 700 towns across France participated in this initiative. This year, the Festival de Cannes, France Télévisions, Brut, and FNCF are joining forces to support the event. Participating cinemas will broadcast live the Ceremony, hosted by French actress Camille Cottin, with special guest American actress Meryl Streep. Following the Ceremony, they will showcase the opening film, Quentin Dupieux’s “Le Deuxième Acte” (The Second Act).

Each year, more cinemas are getting involved in this initiative, which aims to involve the French public in the excitement of the festival’s first evening. This initiative is a way to emphasize the value of cinemas, the importance of shared experiences, and to allow as many cinema enthusiasts as possible to be a part of this event.

The contribution of all these cinemas is immensely appreciated, and a big thank you goes out to them for welcoming film-lovers to share in this extraordinary evening together.
