Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed attends Art Expressions exhibition

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently visited the second National Art Expressions exhibition organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). The exhibition, showcasing over 1,000 works by more than 1,500 Abu Dhabi students from various schools, is open to the public at Manarat Al Saadiyat until March 15, 2024.

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled highlighted the importance of supporting and promoting the talents of young Emirati artists while preserving UAE cultural heritage. He emphasized the role of cultural and artistic events in strengthening the emirate’s creative ecosystem and contributing to a thriving society and economy.

The exhibition features students’ talents across various art forms, including visual, applied, performing, and craft and folk arts. As part of the opening ceremony, 69 students from six schools performed the national anthem, showcasing the winners of the National Anthem Performance Competition. The event saw participation from more than 200 school music bands.

Accompanied by key officials including Sara Awad Issa Musallam, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Sheikh Khaled witnessed the significant growth of the exhibition in its 2024 edition. The number of participating schools increased to 198, up from 29 in the previous year, with a more inclusive representation from public, private, charter, and People of Determination institutions.

ADEK has also partnered with Louvre Abu Dhabi and Warehouse 421 to feature students’ artworks at dedicated exhibitions, underscoring their commitment to supporting and promoting emerging Emirati talent. The Department of Municipalities and Transport will further display students’ artworks across school murals and public facilities.

Future editions of the exhibition will see expanded programs to enable students and teachers to develop across additional art pathways through experiential masterclasses conducted by local and international artists. This initiative aims to nurture creativity and innovation among the youth in Abu Dhabi, contributing to a vibrant arts scene in the emirate.
