Importance of enhancing water security for promoting world stability

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, the Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, highlighted the importance of strengthening water security to promote stability and support social and economic prosperity on a global scale. In observance of World Water Day on March 22nd each year, Dr. Al Dahak emphasized the vital role water plays in sustaining human societies, developing civilizations, and achieving prosperity. She underscored that water is a precious resource that connects humans, food, nature, and climate, but we are facing significant challenges due to water scarcity. It is projected that by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed regions, making it essential to urgently address water-related issues in order to ensure global stability.

The UAE is aware of the pressing global issue of water scarcity, according to Dr. Al Dahak. She noted that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is actively working towards finding sustainable solutions to provide fresh water, especially in areas most affected by water scarcity. His Highness’s leadership in advancing global cooperation on water-related issues is commendable, as demonstrated by the launch of the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative. This initiative not only aims to address water crises worldwide but also to promote peace and stability for all of humanity.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment is dedicated to adopting more sustainable water usage practices, particularly through the implementation of modern agricultural technology. Dr. Al Dahak stressed that water abundance and sustainability are essential for furthering development and prosperity in the UAE. Emphasizing the importance of community engagement, she highlighted that individuals play a crucial role in these efforts, as water is not only essential for human life but also critical for securing a sustainable future.
