UAE-Oman Railway Project Enters Implementation Phase, Says Hafeet Rail CEO

The CEO of Hafeet Rail, Ahmed Al Musawa Al Hashemi, announced that the long-awaited railway project linking the Sultanate of Oman with the United Arab Emirates has finally entered the implementation phase. Al Hashemi revealed that significant progress has been achieved, starting with the signing of the partnership agreement among stakeholders and the awarding of major contracts to a joint UAE-Omani alliance involving companies from both nations.

Speaking at the joint UAE-Oman Business Forum in Abu Dhabi, Al Hashemi emphasized the project’s potential to deliver substantial economic and social benefits. He underscored the efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability of railway transportation, highlighting its positive impact on passenger movement, tourism, and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The CEO expressed confidence that the UAE-Oman railway project would pave the way for enhanced collaboration across various economic and industrial sectors. He elaborated on the route of the railway line, which extends from the Al Wathba area in the UAE to the city and port of Sohar in Oman, traversing diverse geographical landscapes, including deserts, mountains, and valleys. The railway will run alongside Jebel Hafeet, inspiring the name of the joint venture company, Hafeet Rail.

During the event, the joint UAE-Omani Business Forum unveiled the new brand identity of Hafeet Rail, previously known as the “Oman and Etihad Rail Company.” The forum served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss the project’s future prospects and the anticipated benefits it will bring to both countries.
