‘Highlights of Water Day, Meteorological Day, and Earth Hour Initiatives in March’

March is a significant month for environmental awareness and action, with several important events taking place. World Water Day, celebrated on March 22 with the theme “Leveraging water for peace”, is followed by World Meteorological Day on March 23, which focuses on being “At the frontline of climate action”. Additionally, on March 23, the Earth Hour campaign underscores the importance of “Reducing Carbon footprint towards Net Zero”.

Vietnam is urged to seize these opportunities to showcase its role in addressing climate change and promoting sustainability. The country’s efforts at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai align with the global goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The Ministry is calling for practical and effective activities aligned with these themes, as well as efforts to raise awareness among communities, citizens, and businesses. Suggestions include using environmentally friendly materials for banners and posters, organizing seminars, conferences, and art exhibitions, and promoting environmental education in schools.

Furthermore, there is an emphasis on building national databases on natural resources and the environment, implementing smart monitoring solutions, and modernizing observation and forecasting systems. Recognition and rewards will be given to organizations and individuals who excel in technological innovation for resource management, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.

Overall, Vietnam is encouraged to participate actively in these events and demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
