‘Grand Mosque ready to welcome Ramadan’

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) is all set to welcome worshippers and visitors during the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan. Last year, the mosque saw an impressive turnout of 684,945 worshippers and visitors, with over 60,000 attendees on the 27th night of Ramadan for Laylat Al Qadr.

To ensure a smooth experience for the worshippers and visitors, SZGMC has established committees and teams to provide top-notch services and facilities. Collaborating with various government and private entities, the centre has organized meetings to streamline operations during the Holy Month.

In an effort to enhance services and promote volunteerism, over 580 qualified volunteers have been enlisted to work alongside the centre’s employees, Emirates Red Crescent, volunteer teams, police officers, paramedics, and Civil Defense personnel. More than 70 electric cars have been provided for transportation from parking lots to prayer halls, prioritizing the elderly and people with disabilities.

With 8,379 parking spaces, including designated spots for women and those with disabilities, the centre has added an additional 1,800 parking spaces this year. SZGMC has also made available 3,515 chairs and 50 wheelchairs for worshippers.

In a nod to Emirati cultural heritage, the centre has collaborated with the Ministry of Defence to fire the cannon marking the beginning of Ramadan and daily at Iftar time throughout the month. This tradition, cherished by UAE citizens and residents, can be viewed on Abu Dhabi Media TV channels.

As the Holy Month approaches, SZGMC is ready to provide a memorable and meaningful experience for all who visit the iconic mosque.
