“Gigi Becali’s “invented” footballer: “Everyone told me I was crazy! I spent one million euros on him”

Gigi Becali has recently shared his thoughts on the current player at Damac FC, stating that he was the one who “invented” Nicolae Stanciu. The FCSB owner revealed that he discovered Stanciu after the player scored against his team while he was playing for FC Vaslui.

Stanciu was eventually sold by FCSB to RSC Anderlecht in 2016 for nearly 10 million euros, resulting in a profit of around nine million euros. Since then, the footballer has had stints at clubs such as Sparta Prague, Al Ahli, Slavia Prague, and Wuhan Three Towns, solidifying his place as a starter for the Romanian national team.

“I took Stanciu when he scored against us. I liked that moment and I signed him. When I paid one million euros for Stanciu, everyone thought I was crazy. They didn’t see him as a ‘super-prospect’,” said Gigi Becali in an interview with DigiSport.

During his time at FCSB, Nicolae Stanciu made 136 appearances, scoring 33 goals and providing 24 assists in approximately 8500 minutes played for the team.

Here are the career statistics for Nicolae Stanciu at various clubs:
– Slavia Prague: 112 matches, 26 goals, 28 assists
– FC Vaslui: 55 matches, 3 goals, 6 assists
– RSC Anderlecht: 53 matches, 9 goals, 10 assists
