Get Ready for a Vibrant Transformation: Walls to Be Transformed at the 2024 Eureka Street Art Festival

The Eureka Street Art Festival is gearing up for its seventh annual event, set to take place from July 29th to August 2nd. The festival aims to spread color throughout the city by adding new murals to various locations. Some of the walls scheduled to receive murals include the Eureka Theater, Clarke Museum, Eureka Center for Spiritual Living, and many more.

In addition to the murals, this year will feature the installation of larger-than-life ceramic banana slugs around town, crafted by local artists Shannon Sullivan and Jessica Swan. These “Slugs of Eureka” will be placed on walls at locations such as Inn at 2nd + C, Mendenhall Studios, and Morris Graves Museum, among others.

The festival will welcome artists from all over California, with a focus on Humboldt County. The organizers have announced that this will be the last year of the Eureka Street Art Festival, as they are ready to move on to new projects after seven successful years of enriching the city with art.

The festival’s mission is to create accessible art that revitalizes public spaces, stimulates community growth, and attracts visitors to Eureka. They are still seeking sponsors for this final year, with funds raised going towards the maintenance of existing public art in the city.
