Galveston Port Receives Award for Million Cruise Terminal Project

The Galveston Wharves has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Landmark Award by the Houston Business Journal (HBJ) for its impressive million Cruise Terminal 25 renovation and expansion project. The port took home the top prize in the Special Projects category, which celebrates the most outstanding real estate developments in the greater Houston area.

According to a statement released by the port, the annual awards ceremony took place in Houston on April 11 and was attended by over 500 industry professionals. The project, which was completed in 2023, included crucial updates to berths and mooring facilities, the installation of a second boarding bridge, a state-of-the-art U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility that meets all federal standards, and a complete interior redesign.

Key partners in the success of the Terminal project included tenant Carnival Cruise Line, general contractor Hensel Phelps, architect Bermello Ajamil & Partners, and Texas Gulf Construction Co. This collaborative effort resulted in a cutting-edge cruise terminal that now stands as a shining example of excellence in the industry.
