Gala for the Son of a Saint

The exclusive Four Seasons New Orleans Hotel recently welcomed a unique gathering of individuals dedicated to making a difference. On November 17, the Son of a Saint Gala took place at the luxurious venue. Founded by Bivian “Sonny” Lee in 2011, Son of a Saint aims to provide fatherless boys with mentorship, emotional support, life skills development, and positive peer relationships.

The keynote speaker at the gala was Zander Dunbar, a Son of a Saint graduate who is now excelling academically and in track at Tulane University after graduating from St. Augustine High School in 2022.

Fundraising was a key focus of the event, with a live auction featuring six lots. Emeril Lagasse Foundation President Brian Kish and TV personality Tamica Lee led the auction, with the top-earning lot being a trip to the Castellaras Villa in the South of France donated by Nancy and Matt Rebold and secured by Stephanie and Ryan Burks. Additionally, a silent auction offered 21 lots with a variety of items such as food, beverage, travel, dining, and retail.

Bob Merrick, who co-chaired the gala with his wife, Sheryl Merrick, commended the staff, volunteers, and planning committee for organizing an exceptional event. In 2023, the gala raised over million for Son of a Saint, with two surprise gifts of million each presented by Bob Merrick and Ochsner Health CEO Pete November during the event.

It was a night filled with philanthropy, generosity, and support for a noble cause, showcasing the unwavering commitment to making a positive impact within the community.
