‘Futuristic Modular Flying Car Achieves Certification Milestone in China’

In an innovative leap forward for the future of transportation, XPENG AEROHT has unveiled a modular flying car that combines two separate vehicles in one groundbreaking product. This unique concept requires certification for both the ground and air components of the vehicle, setting it apart in the realm of advanced mobility solutions.

The ground module of XPENG AEROHT’s flying car features a robust design with a three-axis, six-wheel configuration, rear-wheel steering, and 6X6 all-wheel drive. This section of the vehicle can function independently as a capable off-road vehicle with seating for up to five passengers. Additionally, the ground module serves as the base for the air vehicle, seamlessly integrating with the flying component for combined travel.

The air vehicle, a double-seat eVTOL designed for personal use, boasts a luxurious cabin with panoramic windows and a distributed electric propulsion system. This cutting-edge aircraft can transition from manual to autonomous driving mode effortlessly and is equipped with advanced safety features to ensure a smooth and secure flight experience.

XPENG AEROHT recently achieved a significant milestone with the certification of the X3-F air component by the Civil Aviation Administration of Central and Southern China (CAAC). This certification paves the way for further progress towards obtaining airworthiness certification for the flying car. Meanwhile, the ground component is on track to receive automotive certification in the near future.

The road to certifying and operationalizing such an innovative vehicle is a complex and costly endeavor. To support this endeavor, XPENG secured significant financial backing in 2022, obtaining credit valued at RMB 6 billion (approximately 4 million) from leading Chinese banks.

The XPENG AEROHT X2, a predecessor to the current X3 model, made an impressive public debut in 2022 with a test flight in Dubai. The X2 showcased advanced features such as a full-carbon fiber airframe, four independent battery packs, and a smart cockpit equipped for autonomous flight planning and control.

As an affiliate of automotive powerhouse XPeng, XPENG AEROHT is positioned as a leader in the Asian flying car market and a pioneer in the global development of innovative air mobility solutions. With a strong foundation of groundbreaking technology and certification achievements, XPENG AEROHT is poised to revolutionize the future of transportation with its modular flying cars.
