‘Free Smart Umbrella Service Now Available from RTA’

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has teamed up with UmbraCity, a Canadian smart umbrella share service company, to introduce a revolutionary ‘free of cost’ umbrella service at the Al Ghubaiba Bus and Metro station.

The aim of this innovative service is to improve the walkability of Dubai by providing residents and visitors with a convenient and sustainable way to protect themselves from the sun and rain. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s ambitious 2040 Urban Master Plan, demonstrating the city’s commitment to creating a sustainable, healthy, and inclusive urban environment.

By blending advanced technology with practical urban solutions, RTA and UmbraCity are taking a significant step towards achieving Dubai’s vision of being the best city to live in the world. Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the importance of promoting the use of smart umbrellas to create vibrant, healthy, and inclusive communities in Dubai.

Amir Entezari, CEO of UmbraCity, expressed his excitement about partnering with RTA to bring the innovative umbrella-sharing service to Dubai. The collaboration aims to advance sustainable urban mobility and enhance the livability of cities, setting a global standard for smart, sustainable urban living.

Through this partnership, RTA and UmbraCity are setting a new benchmark for smart urban living, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leader in creating a sustainable, connected, and resilient urban future. Commuters can now borrow umbrellas for free at the Al Ghubaiba station by simply using their ‘nol’ card, promoting ease of mobility and environmental sustainability. This service supports Dubai’s goal of developing a ’20-minute city’, where residents can access their daily needs within a 20-minute walk or bike ride, fostering a sense of community and well-being.
