Fleur De Lys & Parisa Fouladi to Perform at Local Festival

Barry Island is gearing up to host the beloved Welsh arts and culture festival, Gŵyl Fach y Fro, on Saturday May 18, 2024. Organized by Menter Iaith Bro Morgannwg, this vibrant event promises a day filled with music, creativity, and community spirit—all in the beautiful Welsh language.

From live performances featuring renowned bands like Fleur De Lys, Lowri Evans, Lowri Todz, Parisa Fouladi, Wigwam, and Gwcci, to a new stage showcasing folk artists such as Bethan Nia, Brigyn, and Lo-Fi Jones, Gŵyl Fach y Fro celebrates the rich tapestry of Welsh talent. The festival ensures that both emerging artists and established names shine.

Cultural immersion is a key element of the festival, with all entertainment presented in Cymraeg, allowing festival-goers to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Welsh language. From hula-hoop workshops with The Sparklettes to contemporary dance performances, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate Wales’ linguistic heritage.

In addition to music and cultural performances, attendees can explore craft stalls, enjoy delicious food, and participate in family-friendly activities. Gŵyl Fach y Fro is more than just a music festival—it’s a celebration of Welsh culture in all its forms.

The event will take place from 11:00am to 8:00pm at Barry Island Promenade. Volunteer opportunities are available for those who want to be part of the magic, and connections with Gŵyl Fach y Fro can be made through various channels.

Heulyn Rees, Chief Executive of Menter Bro Morgannwg, expressed gratitude for the support received from various organizations in bringing the festival to life, including Cardiff and Vale College, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Barry Town Council, The National Lottery, the Welsh Arts Council, and Welsh Government.
