A talented fencer of Filipino descent has secured a spot in the upcoming Paris Olympics. Mitchell Dante Saron, a 23-year-old Filipino American and member of the Harvard men’s fencing team, will be representing the United States in the Olympic men’s saber events.

Saron expressed his excitement on his LinkedIn profile, stating, “I’m currently qualified and training for the Paris 2024 Olympics as part of Team USA’s Men’s Saber Team.” He also mentioned his commitment to leveraging his finance skills for success in all his endeavors.

The news of Saron’s participation in Paris was announced by USA Fencing and Harvard on March 27. USA Fencing took to social media to congratulate Saron on his remarkable achievement, thanking coach Oleg Stetsiv, the Harvard fencing community, and Saron’s family and friends for their support.

Saron joins the ranks of Lee Kiefer and Maxine Esteban as the third fencer of Filipino descent competing in Paris. Meanwhile, Filipino fencers Samantha Catantan and Nathaniel Perez are striving to earn their Olympic spots through the 2024 Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, scheduled for later this month.
