Factual Timeline of the Daniel Langlois Murder Case with Supporting Documents

A timeline of events emerging from the trial of Daniel Langlois and Jonathan Lehrer has shed light on the legal battle over a disputed road in Soufriere, Dominica. The evidence presented in court has revealed that Langlois’ claim that the road is public is not supported by the government.

Since January 24, 2017, Langlois has been advocating for the Government to recognize the disputed road as a public road. However, his efforts have been unsuccessful at various levels of government, including the Minister for Tourism, the Director of Surveys, the Minister for Public Works, the Prime Minister, the Minister for Finance, and the Attorney General.

The government’s stance is based on the fact that Langlois has failed to meet the statutory definition of a public road, as outlined in the Roads Ordinance. The evidence presented in the trial has shown that the disputed road does not meet the criteria to be considered a public road.

The timeline presented in the trial also highlighted key events, such as Lehrer’s purchase of the Bois Cotlette Estate in 2011 and the approval of a road diversion by the government in 2016. Despite Langlois’ attempts to prove that the road is public, the court found in favor of Lehrer in a court order dated May 20, 2021.

With this ruling, the legal battle over the disputed road has come to a close, underscoring the importance of adhering to legal definitions and requirements in land disputes.
