Exploring Boundless Horizons: The Art of YOO YOUNGKUK

Yoo Youngkuk Art Foundation is excited to present a special exhibition showcasing the work of Yoo Youngkuk, a trailblazer in Korean abstract art and a prominent figure in the Korean avant-garde scene. Titled “A Journey to the Infinite: YOO YOUNGKUK,” this exhibition is curated by Inhye Kim and is a Collateral Event of the 60th International Art Exhibition—La Biennale di Venezia.

The exhibition focuses on the transformative period of the 1960s and 1970s in Yoo’s artistic journey, where he immersed himself in painting. Through bold primary colors and subtle variations in warm and cool tones, Yoo’s exploration of pure abstraction, perspectival placement, and formal transition from organic to geometric shapes is beautifully showcased.

Taking place across three floors of the Palazzo Querini Stampalia, the exhibition includes over 30 oil paintings, 14 prints, eight drawings, and approximately 40 archival materials. This comprehensive display offers a condensed yet essential overview of Yoo’s life and art.

“A Journey to the Infinite: YOO YOUNGKUK” is not only a significant exhibition in itself, but it also marks Yoo Youngkuk’s first institutional solo exhibition outside of Asia. The importance of this event cannot be understated, highlighting the profound impact of Yoo’s work on the international art scene.
