Expansion Plans for Granada Airport: New Routes to Paris, London, and Dubai
The provincial authority of Granada, Diputación, is making efforts to expand flight connections with major international cities. Currently, representatives are visiting cities like Paris and London to explore new routes and attract more passengers.
President of the Diputación, Francis Rodríguez, is in Paris meeting with travel agents, journalists, and locals to promote Granada as a tourist destination. The Granada-Paris flight has made attractions like the Alhambra and the Eiffel Tower just two hours and twenty minutes apart, encouraging tourism between the two cities.
The promotional plan in Paris includes collaborating with Turespaña to promote Vueling’s direct flights to the French capital. A presentation was held for 75 tour operators and travel agents, alongside a two-month advertising campaign in French media outlets like Le Figaro, Le Monde, and others.
Tourism deputy Marta Nievas recently returned from London, where she was working on establishing a second international connection to Granada. The campaign slogan “Granada, where the Alhambra is just the beginning” showcases different attractions in the province, aiming to attract more tourists.
The Diputación aims to increase tourist arrivals in Granada by investing in promotion. Future plans include trips to Amsterdam, Dubai, New York, and Buenos Aires, with a focus on attracting more visitors through new flight connections.
Ultimately, the goal is to boost tourism in Granada by increasing flight connections with countries like Italy and Germany. With campaigns in the UK and France, the tourist board aims to achieve 8.5 million hits and over 8,000 visits to the official Granada tourism website.
