Expansion of Partnership for Launch of STEM School Programs
The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) and Discovery Education have joined forces to unveil a groundbreaking initiative in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) known as Takween Al Ghurair: STEM Connect. This program is specifically designed to provide students aged 13-18 with access to digital skill-based learning opportunities both during and after school, aiming to cultivate future-ready learners.
Emirati students in grades 7-12 are invited to partake in engaging and dynamic lessons that tackle real-world challenges at the intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). These lessons, available in both Arabic and English, are tailored to align with the UAE grade-level national curriculum. They incorporate hands-on learning experiences that ignite curiosity, stimulate creativity, and cultivate critical thinking skills, ultimately making the learning process both enjoyable and impactful.
Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF), emphasized the importance of STEM education in today’s ever-evolving world. She stated, “By making these subjects engaging and accessible through hands-on learning activities, we are promoting academic excellence while empowering Emirati students to become innovators and leaders who will shape a brighter future for the UAE. This partnership underscores our dedication to Takween Al Ghurair’s mission of equipping young minds with essential skills for success.”
The STEM Connect program is geared towards enhancing the core curriculum and nurturing students’ creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Its key features include providing students with opportunities to tackle real-world challenges, linking classroom learning to various STEM careers, integrating skills across multiple disciplines, and incorporating hands-on activities to encourage innovation and design.
Michael Savitz, Discovery Education’s International General Manager, expressed pride in expanding their partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) to deliver top-notch STEM instruction to students throughout the UAE. He remarked, “This collaboration will equip UAE educators with the innovative resources necessary to create dynamic digital learning environments that foster student curiosity, drive deep engagement, and prepare learners for success in and out of the classroom.”
Upon completion of the program, students will showcase their projects at a special event, allowing them to celebrate their achievements alongside their families and the community.
