Exclusive Event ‘KHAMSA’ Held in Dubai by IWC Schaffhausen

IWC Schaffhausen recently hosted an event at the Museum of the Future in Dubai to showcase their new Portugieser collection. This collection includes the Portugieser Eternal Calendar, which is the luxury Swiss watch manufacturer’s first secular perpetual calendar with a moon phase accuracy of 45 million years.

The event began with a video message from Academy Award-winning film score composer Hans Zimmer, followed by a live performance of “A Tribute to Eternity,” a composition by Hans Zimmer and physicist Professor Brian Cox that was released globally on Spotify. The theme of the event was “A Tribute to Eternity,” and IWC Schaffhausen unveiled their new Portugieser collection at Watches and Wonders in Geneva.

The Museum of the Future in Dubai displayed novelties from the collection such as the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44 and the Portugieser Automatic 42, both featuring a slimmer case construction and lacquered dials in new colors like Horizon Blue, Dune, and Obsidian.

A standout piece from the collection is the Portugieser Eternal Calendar, which is IWC’s first secular perpetual calendar to factor in the Gregorian calendar’s leap year exceptions. This exceptional timepiece features a moon phase display that will only deviate by one day over an incredible 45 million years.
