‘Exciting Updates to iOS18 Coming This Fall’

Apple unveiled a host of new features for iOS 18 at its annual developers conference event on Monday, with a focus on enhancing the Siri assistant and incorporating artificial intelligence tools for iPhone users.

The upcoming AI-packed updates scheduled for the fall aim to help the billions of Apple device users be more productive and efficient, while also providing creative tools to add some fun to their interactions. One highlight is the use of AI to generate emojis, known as “Genmojis,” in real-time to better convey emotions.

While the full suite of AI features will be exclusive to the latest iPhone 15 models due to their advanced processors, there are still plenty of upgrades for all iPhone owners to look forward to.

Some of the notable new features coming to iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence include:

Scheduled texts, tap backs, and RCS:
Apple will introduce Rich Communications Service (RCS) technology to its iMessage app, enhancing texting quality and security between iPhones and Android-powered devices like Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel. Users will also have the ability to pre-compose and schedule texts for automatic sending, as well as use animated tap backs to quickly reply with emojis or stickers.

AI tools and data privacy:
The new AI platform, “Apple Intelligence,” will leverage Siri to facilitate actions across apps and expand the assistant’s functionalities. AI capabilities will also help manage notifications, summarize text in searches and emails, and even assist with modifying text tone. To address privacy concerns, Apple ensures that most AI processes are conducted on the device itself rather than on remote servers, known as “the cloud.” When additional computing power is required, a “private cloud” will handle tasks while safeguarding user data.

More screen customization and control center options:
iOS 18 will provide users with more flexibility to organize apps, resize icons, and widgets on the home screen. Additionally, a new dark mode appearance and tinting effect will offer further customization options. The redesigned control center will offer one-tap functions and the ability to incorporate third-party app shortcuts, like remote vehicle starting.

Password management:
Apple will introduce a dedicated Passwords app across all platforms – iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. This app will centralize all passwords, including Wi-Fi credentials, and provide access to authentication tools. Users will also receive alerts about compromised passwords.

With these new features and upgrades, Apple aims to enhance the overall user experience and productivity for iPhone users while prioritizing data privacy and security.
