Everything You Need to Know When Planning a Bus Journey from UAE to Oman

Oman Has Become a Preferred Destination for UAE Residents

With its breathtaking landscapes and warm hospitality, Oman has become a popular travel destination for UAE residents looking for short vacations or weekend getaways. Whether you are interested in exploring the wadis, relaxing on the white beaches, or conquering the majestic mountains, the Sultanate has something to offer for every type of traveler.

Located just a short distance away from the UAE, Oman is easily accessible for both residents and visitors. You can choose to travel by bus, car, or even take a quick flight to experience the unique charms of the Sultanate.

For those who are not keen on a long 4-hour, 33-minute drive from Dubai to Muscat or do not want to spend approximately Dh1,000 on a one-hour flight from DXB to MCT, there are budget-friendly bus options available that cater to travelers looking to explore Oman without breaking the bank.

One such option is the Sharjah-Muscat bus service launched by the Sultanate’s public transport company, Mwasalat. This service offers four trips – two from Sharjah to Muscat and two from Muscat to Sharjah – making it a convenient and economical choice for travelers.

Another exciting bus service is the one from Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam in Oman. Operated by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, this service allows residents to explore Musandam’s rugged mountains and crystal-clear waters in just three hours at a cost of Dh50 for a one-way journey.

Mwasalat also relaunched a bus service from Muscat to Abu Dhabi via Al Ain, providing a seamless travel experience between the two countries. The journey takes approximately 5 hours, with tickets priced at OMR 11.5 (Dh109) for a one-way trip.

Even from Dubai, travelers can avail themselves of bus services to Muscat through Al Khanjry Transport, offering daily trips at affordable rates. While online booking is not available, tickets can be purchased in person at their offices in Ruwi and Burj Sahwa or through WhatsApp.

When traveling to Oman via bus, UAE residents need to ensure they have the necessary documents, including a passport with at least six months of validity and a valid Emirates ID. For entry into Oman, a visa can be obtained at the border for a fee of Dh50.

Overall, Oman’s proximity to the UAE, combined with its diverse attractions and affordable travel options, makes it an attractive destination for residents looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a quick getaway. So whether you prefer the convenience of a bus ride or the adventure of a road trip, Oman has something unique to offer every traveler.
