‘Etihad Airways and China Eastern Plan to Establish Joint Partnership’

Etihad Airways and China Eastern Airlines have agreed to launch a joint venture in 2025 to enhance air travel connectivity between China and the UAE. The collaboration aims to develop routes connecting major cities in China, like Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, and Xi’an, with strategic destinations in the Middle East and Africa.

The agreement also includes plans for both airlines to expand their frequent flyer programs, allowing passengers to earn and redeem points when flying with either carrier. This move is expected to be implemented by the fourth quarter of 2024.

China Eastern Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, will partner with Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, in this venture. In another development, Etihad Airways reported a significant jump in profits for the first quarter of 2024, with a year-on-year growth of 791%. The airline is also gearing up for a potential IPO to raise around billion.
