“Enjoyable, Simple, Nutritious Eating Showcased at Dubai Food Expo by FOODPhilippines”
FOODPhilippines showcased its healthy and convenient food options at the 29th edition of Gulfood in Dubai, UAE. With a focus on health and wellness, 25 food exhibitors from the Philippines brought a variety of nutritious products to the event.
The delegation aimed to tap into the growing trend of healthy and easy eating in the UAE, offering plant-based snacks, healthy snack bars, fresh fruits and vegetables, and ready-to-cook meals. Dr. Edward Fereira, Executive Director of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), emphasized the importance of the Philippines maintaining its presence in the global market, particularly in the MEA region.
The UAE’s food and beverage market, currently valued at USD 20 billion, is expected to double by 2029. This growth is fueled by a rising expat population and high-income consumer base in the region. Fereira expressed gratitude to Gulfood for providing a platform for Philippine food exporters to showcase their products.
In addition to food offerings, the Philippine Pavilion at Gulfood facilitated matchmaking services and business-to-business meetings between exhibitors and trade buyers. The Philippines’ participation in the event was made possible by CITEM, along with DTI – Export Marketing Bureau and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Dubai.
Looking ahead, CITEM is gearing up for IFEX Philippines, the country’s largest international trade show for food and ingredients, scheduled for May 10-12, 2024, at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
