Enhancing Access to Quality Healthcare for the Sudanese Community through Aster Volunteers

Aster Volunteers, the CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Consulate General of Sudan in the UAE to cater to the healthcare needs of the Sudanese community. This initiative aims to provide special privilege care to Sudanese residents in the UAE through Aster Hospitals, Clinics, and Pharmacies. The partnership will offer free multi-specialty medical screenings once a month for a year-long program, promoting accessibility to healthcare and encouraging preventive practices within the community.

In response to the increasing incidence of cancer cases in the UAE, particularly among the elderly population, Aster Volunteers conducted a scientific seminar on “Geriatric Cancer and Remedial Interventions” in Dubai. The seminar, led by a team of specialist practitioners and oncologists from Aster Hospitals, aimed to educate Sudanese doctors in the UAE on prevention, early detection, and curative approaches to combat cancer. This initiative aligns with Aster DM Healthcare’s commitment to enhancing healthcare in the region.

Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics (UAE, Oman, Bahrain), highlighted the importance of addressing the rising number of cancer cases, especially among the elderly population. He emphasized the role of specialized oncology services in providing tailored care and support to elderly patients on their cancer journey. Aster DM Healthcare’s collaboration with the Consulate General of Sudan reflects their dedication to improving healthcare accessibility for the Sudanese community and promoting preventive measures.

To further support cancer awareness and prevention efforts, Aster Hospital Sharjah will offer free cancer screenings once a week for the next two months, specifically targeting the elderly Sudanese community in the UAE. These initiatives underscore Aster DM Healthcare’s commitment to creating a healthier society and addressing the evolving healthcare needs of diverse communities in the region.
