‘Emerging Artists Take Centerstage at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, Creating New Art Stars’

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is gearing up for its annual event, scheduled to take place from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14 at Town Green Park, along The Waterway. This year, the festival will feature seven emerging artists, bringing fresh talent and creativity to the event.

According to Jenny Carattini-Wright, the executive director of The Woodlands Arts Council, involving new artists in the festival provides a platform for local talent to showcase their work, potentially kickstarting successful art careers and contributing to the creative economy in The Woodlands and its surrounding areas. To qualify as an emerging artist, individuals must not have previously exhibited their art at an outdoor festival and must reside in Texas.

Now, let’s get acquainted with the last three emerging artists who will be featured at the festival this year. Jeff Lung, who relocated from Chicago to The Woodlands two and a half years ago, has transitioned from owning a gym to pursuing a career in art. Lung’s passion for doodling, combined with his love for outdoor activities like running, cycling, and meditation, is reflected in his artwork. He finds inspiration in everyday life and enjoys incorporating hidden messages and stories into his pieces.

Another artist to look out for is Tetyana Aleksenko, a Ukrainian-born artist currently residing in The Woodlands. Specializing in pastels, Aleksenko draws inspiration from nature, particularly flowers and seascapes, aiming to bring joy and beauty to the world through her art. She is a member of the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas and actively participates in local and national pastel exhibitions and competitions.

Regina West, who hails from a diverse background spanning multiple countries and continents, infuses her artistic expression with a unique perspective. With a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and artistic exploration, West creates captivating watercolor pieces inspired by her personal travel experiences. She views art as a potent storytelling medium, incorporating narratives from her life and global encounters into her work.
