Earth Day Initiative Aims to Save 10 Million kWh – Logistics Company
Taqeef, a leading provider of cooling solutions in the UAE, is urging residents to set their air conditioners to 24°C for at least one hour to celebrate Earth Day on April 22. This simple adjustment can lead to potential energy savings of over 10 million kWh per day for the country, according to a press release.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recommends keeping indoor temperatures between 24 and 25°C for optimal comfort. Increasing the thermostat by just one degree Celsius can result in energy savings of up to 5%, contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
To promote more conscious cooling practices, Taqeef has launched the annual ’24 for 2024′ campaign. This initiative aims to encourage residents to reduce their AC usage’s environmental impact by setting the temperature to 24°C as a default. Tariq Al Ghussein, CEO of Taqeef, emphasized the significant impact that a small change in thermostat settings can have on energy consumption.
With the UAE’s population exceeding 9.5 million people and an average AC usage of 10,000 kWh per person annually, adopting the 24°C recommendation could lead to potential daily savings of around 10 million kWh. By participating in this campaign, residents can contribute to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in the UAE.
