‘Dubai Highlights Environmental Initiatives at World Future Energy Summit’

Dubai is set to showcase its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy at the upcoming World Future Energy Summit, organized by Masdar from April 16 to 18, 2024. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will be actively participating in four panel discussions during the summit, highlighting its innovative initiatives in clean and renewable energy.

The summit aims to accelerate sustainable development and promote economic, social, and environmental progress. DEWA will showcase its pivotal projects and sustainability efforts at its exhibition stand in Hall No. 5 (Energy Hall) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, underscored the crucial role of UAE leadership in advancing renewable and clean energy initiatives. DEWA is aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, with a target of achieving 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050.

DEWA representatives will participate in panel discussions covering various aspects of sustainability and renewable energy during the summit. Topics will include navigating a low carbon pathway, energy decarbonization, and the expansion of renewables. Of particular focus will be the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park.

One highlight of DEWA’s participation will be Dr. Hesham Ismail’s involvement in the Green Hydrogen Summit, where he will discuss DEWA’s pioneering Green Hydrogen Project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This project aims to produce hydrogen using solar power, showcasing DEWA’s commitment to renewable energy sources.

Additionally, DEWA will engage with the Youth 4 Sustainability platform, emphasizing its efforts to empower Emirati youth to become future sustainability leaders and contribute to the UAE’s significant role in climate action. Through these initiatives and partnerships, DEWA is reinforcing its position as a key player in driving sustainable development and clean energy efforts in Dubai and beyond.
