Dr Simon Sung Joins Fox Chase Cancer Center

Fox Chase Cancer Center has welcomed Simon Sung, MD, as an associate professor in the Department of Pathology. Prior to joining Fox Chase, Sung held positions as an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, as well as at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.

Sung obtained his undergraduate degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his anatomic pathology residency at Columbia University Medical Center – New York Presbyterian Hospital, followed by fellowships in cytopathology at Weill Cornell Medical College and general surgical pathology at Columbia University Medical Center.

With over 20 peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals such as Cancer Cytopathology and Diagnostic Cytopathology, Sung has garnered recognition through awards like the National Institutes of Health Summer Research Grant and the Sigmund L. Wilens Prize for Excellence in Pathology. He is actively involved in various professional organizations including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Cytopathology, and the College of American Pathologists.
