“Dishing up Happiness in San Diego at SXSW”

The San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA) is set to showcase the best of America’s Finest City at SXSW 2024 in Austin. Partnering with media company Vox Media and their food brand, Eater, SDTA will host a rooftop ‘Happiness Hour’ at the JW Marriott, bringing a taste of San Diego to festival attendees.

Crafted by The Shipyard, the ‘Dishing Happiness’ experience will transform the hotel’s Edge Rooftop into a vibrant San Diego oasis. Attendees can expect San Diego-inspired cuisine, bespoke cocktails, and design elements that reflect the city’s warmth and hospitality.

Kerri Kapich, COO of SDTA, expressed excitement about showcasing San Diego’s culinary scene at the event. Mixologist Alicia Perry from Consortium Holdings will serve up signature cocktails, while the Cali-Baja food menu will feature dishes like ceviche, Baja fish tacos, and avocado tostadas paired with craft beers from renowned San Diego-based breweries.

VP digital media at The Shipyard, Casey Soulies, highlighted the partnership with Eater and SDTA as a way to introduce San Diego’s diverse culinary scene to a national audience. The event will also feature the debut of an Eater San Diego Local Maps by Vox Media, showcasing the top cocktails in the city.

This initiative at SXSW is just the beginning of a four-part culinary campaign with Vox, with future plans for a pop-up restaurant experience in New York City in May. So, get ready to immerse yourself in the flavors and vibes of San Diego at the ‘Happiness Hour’ during SXSW 2024.
