Discussion on food safety held during eighth session

The Federal National Council (FNC) convened for its eighth session of the regular session of the eighteenth legislative term, led by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Council. The highlight of the session was the discussion on the “Government Policy on Food Safety,” where several recommendations were adopted.

Among the key recommendations was the urgency to finalize all food safety regulations, enhance coordination among relevant authorities and stakeholders for effective implementation and monitoring of food safety measures, and the establishment of the national food product registration system (ZAD). This system aims to streamline food and feed registration processes, as well as improve supervision.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, attended the FNC session and highlighted the significance of the government’s food safety policy and the importance of the recommendations proposed by the committee. Enhancing the food safety system in the country is crucial for ensuring the well-being of the population.
