Deadline for Burj Rashid exhibition submissions extended by Dubai Culture

Dubai’s Burj Rashid exhibition, organized in partnership with the Dubai World Trade Center, is extending its application deadline to April 30, 2024. This move gives Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and architects more time to submit their applications inspired by the iconic skyscraper.

The Burj Rashid stands as a symbol of Dubai’s urban resurgence and continual growth, showcasing the city’s ability to embrace modern changes and embody a spirit of progress. Artists and creatives from various disciplines are invited to participate in the exhibition, facilitated by the Sikka Platform, to celebrate the tower’s 45th anniversary with diverse artistic interpretations.

Constructed in 1979, the Burj Rashid was the first high-rise building in Dubai, designed by John R. Harris & Partners. It played a pivotal role in establishing the Dubai World Trade Centre as a hub for business and commerce in the region. Standing at 149 meters, the skyscraper remains a prominent figure in Dubai’s landscape, representing the city’s development and aspirations.

The exhibition aims to honor the legacy of the late Sheikh Rashid, whose visionary leadership transformed the area into a thriving center for trade and networking. Through artistic expressions and creative interpretations, participants have the opportunity to pay homage to this landmark in Dubai’s history and contribute to the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene.
