“COP29 Will Not Be a Forum for Conflict, Says President Ilham Aliyev”

Countries rich in oil and gas should not be subject to myths regarding their efforts to address climate issues. President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan highlighted the collaborative efforts of the UAE, Azerbaijan, and Brazil in tackling environmental challenges during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on April 26.

President Aliyev emphasized that these countries are actively working to redirect revenue towards green energy initiatives. He emphasized that the upcoming COP29 conference will not be a platform for confrontation, but rather an opportunity to build bridges. Azerbaijan, as the host of COP29, aims to serve as a mediator between the West and the Global South, particularly in the realm of green energy transition and combating climate change.

The president’s remarks underline the commitment of oil and gas-rich nations to play a constructive role in addressing climate issues and promoting sustainable practices on a global scale.
