Construction of 1.5 km Access Bridge Planned for Dubai Harbour
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently made headlines by awarding a massive AED 431 million project to develop the entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour. This project, in partnership with Shamal Holding, aims to enhance the infrastructure and accessibility to one of the most iconic destinations in the region.
The scope of the project includes the construction of a two-lane bridge in each direction, spanning an impressive 1,500 meters from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour. This area is renowned for being home to the largest marina in the region, attracting tourists and residents alike with its stunning waterfront views and luxurious amenities.
One of the key objectives of this project is to improve the traffic flow and accessibility to Dubai Harbour. The new bridge will be able to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in each direction, significantly reducing travel time to the site from 12 minutes to just three minutes. This will not only enhance the overall experience for visitors but also contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the area.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, emphasized the significance of this project, stating that “the bridge extends from the 5th intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour Street, passing through key intersections along the way.” The project also includes surface improvements at four intersections to further enhance connectivity and ease of access for commuters.
Dubai Harbour, located between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, is a bustling hub of activity and luxury. With iconic landmarks like the Burj Al Arab in close proximity, the area is a magnet for tourists and residents seeking a taste of the high life. Notably, Dubai Harbour is also home to Skydive Dubai, boasting a 770-meter-long runway that extends into the Arabian Gulf.
The development of Dubai Harbour is an ongoing process, with a 1.5-kilometer-long project currently underway. This ambitious endeavor includes the construction of a residential complex with 24 towers and approximately 7,500 apartments, catering to the growing demand for premium real estate in the area.
In conclusion, the RTA’s investment in the development of entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour marks a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution of this iconic destination. With improved infrastructure and enhanced connectivity, Dubai Harbour is poised to attract even more visitors and residents, solidifying its status as a premier destination in the region.
As the project progresses, stakeholders and the public alike can look forward to a more seamless and efficient experience when accessing Dubai Harbour, further cementing its reputation as a must-visit destination in the vibrant city of Dubai.
By prioritizing infrastructure development and accessibility, the RTA continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of transportation in Dubai and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
