Completion of Exit 55 Widening to Rebat Street in Dubai Reduces Travel Time by 60%

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed a significant traffic improvement project on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The project involved the surface expansion of Exit 55 leading to Al Rebat Street, spanning 600 meters. As part of this expansion, a new lane was added, increasing the total number of lanes to three. This development is crucial in enhancing the capacity of the road network and improving traffic safety in Dubai, especially considering the rapid urban development and population growth in the emirate.

The completion of the surface expansion on Exit 55 directly contributes to improving traffic safety and increasing the capacity of the exit from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Al Rebat Street. The expansion has boosted the capacity from 3,000 vehicles per hour to 4,500 vehicles per hour, marking a 50% increase. Additionally, the travel time from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Al Rebat Street towards Business Bay Crossing has been reduced from 10 minutes to just 4 minutes, a significant 60% reduction.

This traffic improvement project on Exit 55 is just one of many initiatives planned by RTA for 2024, with a total of 45 locations across Dubai earmarked for similar enhancements. These projects play a crucial role in supporting Dubai’s sustainable growth and aim to enhance the happiness and well-being of residents, further solidifying Dubai’s reputation as the best city to live in.

RTA’s commitment to the continuous development and improvement of Dubai’s road network is evident through its regular updates to traffic solutions. The selection of roads for improvement projects is based on a thorough analysis of various criteria, including traffic studies, insights from control centers, public suggestions, and field observations conducted by RTA teams.

By implementing these traffic improvement projects, RTA not only addresses current traffic challenges but also prepares for future growth and development in Dubai. The enhancement of road networks and traffic safety measures not only benefits residents but also contributes to the overall economic and social progress of the emirate. Residents and commuters can expect smoother and safer journeys on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and other key routes in Dubai, thanks to RTA’s proactive approach to traffic management and infrastructure development.

In conclusion, the completion of the traffic improvements on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, including the surface expansion of Exit 55 to Al Rebat Street, signifies RTA’s dedication to ensuring a robust and efficient transportation system in Dubai. As the city continues to grow and evolve, such projects play a vital role in supporting Dubai’s vision for sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. With ongoing efforts and investments in infrastructure, Dubai is well-positioned to remain a global leader in urban transportation and mobility solutions.
