‘Company Plans to Build Large Free Trade Zone’

DP World has partnered with the Azerbaijan Ministry of Economy and the Port of Baku to establish the Alyat Free Trade Zone in Azerbaijan. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to enhance the country’s economy and contribute to the Eurasian trade corridor.

Drawing on its extensive international experience in multi-modal transport, logistics, and supply chain management, DP World is well-positioned to support the development of the Alyat Free Trade Zone. The company has a proven track record in advising on similar projects, such as the Khorgos Special Economic Zone in Kazakhstan and the Inland Container Depot in the same country.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasized the company’s expertise in developing marine and inland terminals, industrial zones, and logistics facilities. By leveraging their global network and experience in multi-modal transport connectivity, DP World aims to create a thriving logistics and transport hub in Azerbaijan.

The Alyat Free Trade Zone is planned to cover 20 square kilometers upon completion, with the first phase spanning 4 square kilometers. DP World will assist in developing the business plan, establishing regulations for special economic zones, and creating a master plan for the project. This collaboration is expected to enhance trade links between China and Europe, positioning the Alyat Free Trade Zone as a key player in the region’s economic landscape.
