Celebrating 60 Years of Lighthouse ArtCenter

Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta is celebrating its Sixtieth Anniversary with the launch of “Artistry Through The Ages: 60 Years of Inspiration,” on display until August 2. This exhibition delves into the center’s history, showcasing its evolution from the 1960s to the present day and honoring the influential mentors that have contributed to its success.

“Artistry Through The Ages” offers a visual journey through archival photos, highlighting the center’s origins and featuring the works of esteemed instructors and artists like Eduardo Gomez, Ralph Papa, and Manon Sander.

Established in 1964, Lighthouse ArtCenter began as a grassroots effort to meet the artistic needs of northern Palm Beach County. Today, it has become a vibrant institution that welcomes over 20,000 visitors annually, hosts 20 exhibitions, and serves as a creative hub for more than 600 artists, 2,600 adult students, and 1,400 youth students. Through its outreach program, the ArtCenter offers free art instruction to over 3,000 underserved individuals, including those with special needs, veterans, seniors, and children without access to art classes.

Eduardo Gomez, a renowned figurative sculptor and instructor at Lighthouse ArtCenter for 13 years, creates evocative sculptures known for their power and emotion, displayed in public and private collections worldwide. Ralph Papa, a lifelong artist and community activist teaching at the ArtCenter for 12 years, brings his love for plein air and studio painting to his art, found in collections globally. Manon Sander, an award-winning contemporary Impressionist and 12-year instructor at the center, infuses her paintings with vibrant colors and expressive brushstrokes, showcasing her work in juried shows and publications around the world.
