Etihad Airways Celebrates 20 Years of London-Abu Dhabi Flights

Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, is commemorating two decades of flights between London and Abu Dhabi. The airline’s first service to Heathrow Airport using an Airbus A340 landed on 28 March 2004, marking the beginning of thrice-weekly flights connecting London and Abu Dhabi, establishing a popular route.

Currently, Etihad operates four daily flights between London and Abu Dhabi, utilizing a mix of Airbus A380s with the luxurious Residence suite and Boeing 787s. Jeremy Pollock, Etihad Airways Country Manager UK and Ireland, expressed pride in reaching the 20-year milestone since the inaugural flight. He highlighted the airline’s growth and the dedication of its UK and Ireland workforce.

Henry Naya, Etihad Airways Airport Manager at London Heathrow, reflected on the excitement surrounding the airline’s early days at Terminal 3 and the sense of opportunity and growth. Naya emphasized the energy and drive that propelled Etihad’s success over the years, leading to the airline’s current position as a prominent player in the aviation industry.

Since its launch in 2003, Etihad has seen significant development and expansion, culminating in its move to Terminal 4 at Heathrow in 2009. With increasing demand, the frequencies of flights between London and Abu Dhabi have risen, catering to UK-based customers seeking to explore the Middle East in style and comfort.
