CBP Extends Mobile Passport Control Services to All Preclearance Airports

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that Abu Dhabi is now a location where travelers can use the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) mobile application to clear the CBP inspection process before boarding U.S.-bound flights. This enhancement allows U.S. citizens and select non-U.S. travelers to expedite their entry into the United States.

With this addition, MPC is now available at all 14 Preclearance airport locations under CBP’s International Field Office, including popular destinations such as Aruba, Bermuda, Dublin, and Shannon in Ireland, as well as various cities in Canada like Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Donald Conroy, Executive Director of CBP International Operations and Advisory Directorate, emphasized the agency’s commitment to facilitating travel and tourism to the U.S. He highlighted how Mobile Passport Control offers travelers additional options to streamline their arrival experience, leading to less congestion and more efficient processing.

The MPC mobile app is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, Canadian B1/B2 citizen visitors, and returning Visa Waiver Program travelers with an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) form. By submitting passport and travel information in advance via the app, travelers can save time and simplify the entry process.

Travelers can download the MPC mobile app for free from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The app allows users to create profiles with passport information for up to 12 family members. Upon arrival at participating U.S. or Preclearance locations, travelers can use the app to submit their information to CBP, eliminating the need for paper forms. At the CBP clearance area, travelers should look for the designated MPC queue and present their passports or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident cards to the CBP officer for processing.

Overall, the introduction of Mobile Passport Control at Abu Dhabi and other Preclearance locations reinforces CBP’s efforts to streamline the travel experience and enhance security protocols for entering the United States.
