“Capturing the Beauty and Potential of Northumberland”

An exciting photographic exhibition is set to take place in Northumberland, showcasing the beauty of the county and raising awareness about the importance of protecting it for future generations. Organized by the environmental action group What A Wonderful World (WaWW), the My Northumberland exhibition aims to capture the essence of the county through stunning images.

Liz Anderson, co-founder of WaWW, expressed the importance of understanding people’s connections to Northumberland and their concerns about its future. Photographers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to submit their work, accompanied by text highlighting environmental issues that are important to them. The selected images will be featured in the exhibition at Alnwick Playhouse from June 3 to July 4.

In addition to showcasing the beauty of Northumberland, the exhibition will also serve as a platform to address local and global environmental issues. Prizes will be awarded in two junior categories, and a selection of photos will be used to create a 2025 calendar. The calendar will be launched during WaWW’s third Festival, scheduled from June 27-30, which will include a variety of events such as conversations, music, poetry, and dance performances.

Photographers interested in submitting their work for the exhibition have until April 12, 2024, to do so. The entry form and full details are available on the WaWW website. Selected photographers will have the opportunity to attend a preview event at Alnwick Playhouse.
