‘Big In-flight Update Revealed by Jetstar’
Jetstar recently unveiled a brand new uniform design, marking a significant change for the airline since its inception two decades ago. Over 5000 pilots, cabin crew, and airport team members will now don a modernized, predominantly navy blue uniform with subtle orange accents.
Employees have the option to choose between an orange blazer, as previously worn, or a navy one. Additionally, a variety of clothing items such as a shirt dress, tailored skirts, and overcoats are now available to the staff.
The new uniform collection was created by renowned Australian fashion designer, Genevieve Smart, who collaborated with 40 Jetstar pilots, cabin crew, and airport team members to finalize the design. Smart drew inspiration from the breathtaking sunset view from an aircraft window, focusing on the anticipation of reaching a destination and the excitement of travel.
Stephanie Tully, Jetstar Group CEO, expressed that the uniform change signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the airline. She mentioned, “We’ve taken into account the feedback from our employees and wanted to develop a uniform that reflects the progress we have made as we enter our third decade of operations.” Tully highlighted that the new collection offers more freedom to the crew in choosing what they wear.
The new uniform will gradually be introduced to employees in New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore by late 2024. This move aims to create a unified and modern look for Jetstar staff across different regions, symbolizing the airline’s evolution and growth in the industry.
