Best Catalan Documentary “Casa Reynal” Wins Award at DocsBarcelona

The 27th edition of the DocsBarcelona International Documentary Film Festival showcased some remarkable Catalan films, with “Raynal House” by Léa Manresa taking home the award for Best Catalan Film. This film, produced by Films de l’Orient and Video Profilmar, emerged as the first winner in the competitive section “Documents and Cats,” exclusively dedicated to Catalan productions.

Another standout in the same section was “A Passing Star” by Arturo Méndiz and Ignasi Guerrero, which received special mention. This documentary, produced by Bastian Films, Btcom, and Tilma Films, also clinched the Docs del Públic award.

“Will End,” a Catalan documentary by Adrian Silvestre, received the prestigious Docs Award from the Antaviana jury, adding another feather to its cap at the festival.

The DUX Award for the best film went to “Mexican Dream” directed by Laura Blancart, concluding the successful 27th session of DocsBarcelona with a fitting recognition of outstanding documentary filmmaking.

In a separate ceremony, the 11th ProDocs Awards were presented by the Documentary Film Producers Association. Among the winners, “Amen, Francisco Responds,” directed by Jordi Evoli and Marius Sanchez, and produced by Producciones del Barrio for Disney+, stood out in the Singles TV Documentary category. Similarly, the television documentary series “El Forense,” directed by Xavi Moral and Ramon Balaji, and produced by BAS Broadcaster and Minifilms for 3Cat, garnered attention for its unique storytelling approach.

The awards ceremony marked the culmination of another successful year for DocsBarcelona, celebrating the diversity and creativity of documentary filmmaking.
