Australia’s DP World introduces new rail service

DP World Expands Australian Operations with Launch of New Rail Service at Stockland’s Yennora Intermodal Terminal

In an exciting development, DP World has announced the expansion of its Australian operations with the launch of a new rail service at Stockland’s Yennora Intermodal Terminal. This terminal, one of the largest logistics facilities in the Southern Hemisphere, will now offer two direct rail services to and from Port Botany per day on a dedicated DP World-owned and operated rail line.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Terminal to mark this occasion. The event was attended by key figures including Julia Finn, Member for Granville (NSW), Parliamentary Secretary to the NSW Premier; Amna Al-Suwaidi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Australia; Nicolaj Noes, Executive Vice President, Oceania, DP World; Tarun Gupta, Managing Director and CEO, Stockland; and Marika Calfas, CEO of NSW Ports.

The new port-rail service is expected to handle an annual rail capacity of 160,000 20-foot cargo shipping containers, also known as TEUs, resulting in higher efficiencies and a reduction of up to 160 truck trips per day, which will lower overall emissions.

DP World’s expanded presence at the Yennora Intermodal Terminal will allow for an integrated supply chain solution across landside operations, contract logistics, and freight forwarding. The enhanced logistics capabilities are set to bring about cost efficiencies, reduced transit times, and improved supply chain resilience.

Nicolaj Noes, Executive Vice President, Oceania, DP World, expressed excitement about the new developments, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure and assets to create seamless connections and provide increased control and flexibility in operations. Tarun Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Stockland, also expressed delight in the partnership with DP World and the opportunities for growth that the new rail service at the Yennora Intermodal Terminal brings.

The Yennora Intermodal Terminal is strategically positioned as a key logistics hub in Sydney, offering ample warehouse space and connectivity to meet supply chain requirements efficiently. DP World’s strategic partnership with Stockland to operate a warehousing facility and dedicated port-rail service underscores the commitment to providing a fully integrated supply chain service for customers.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing logistics operations and driving economic opportunities in the region. The shared long-term vision for a major contracts logistics hub at the Yennora Intermodal Terminal highlights the commitment to providing top-notch services and support to customers in the area.
