AS/RS System Boosts French Distributor Sabarot’s Operational Capacity

Sabarot, a French family-owned business specializing in dried legumes, cereals, and wild mushrooms, is expanding its operations in Chaspuzac, France with the help of Mecalux. The company, led by CEO Antoine Wassner, is looking to enhance its logistics capabilities and support its continued growth.

To increase its storage capacity, Sabarot has decided to double its automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) to accommodate 12,000 pallets. Mecalux will be setting up four aisles spanning 92 meters each, with a stacker crane operating autonomously to handle loading, unloading, and transport of pallets as directed by the Easy WMS warehouse management system. One unique feature of this AS/RS is its ability to operate at both ambient and frozen temperatures (-5 degrees Celsius) as per Sabarot’s request.

Wassner expressed satisfaction with the expansion, stating, “We needed to increase our operational capacity and respond proactively to the growth of our business. This expansion provides us with high flexibility, allowing us to manage peak activity with great responsiveness.”

Sabarot serves clients in over 70 countries from its Chaspuzac center, with a focus on markets in France and the UK. The company also exports its products to countries such as Malaysia, the UAE, and Singapore. Mecalux’s Easy WMS will oversee the new storage aisles, ensuring real-time supervision and complete traceability of Sabarot’s 7,800 SKUs.

With a consistent annual growth rate of close to 15% over the last 15 years, the AS/RS expansion aligns with Sabarot’s current logistics needs and will accommodate future growth. Mecalux, a warehouse technology and logistics software enterprise with over 55 years of experience, develops automated storage solutions, warehouse management software, and metal racking systems for various sectors. The company boasts an extensive worldwide distribution network, 11 production plants, seven R&D centers, and a workforce of over 5,000 employees.
