‘Arc80X – A New Addition to the WAAM 3D Printer Collection’

Gefertec has launched the Arc80X series, a revolutionary Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing system that enables the 3D printing of large metal parts using wire feedstock. This new generation of printers offers two versions: a 3-axis model with a spacious assembly area of 2 x 2 x 2m and a printing capacity of up to 8,000 kg, and a 5-axis model capable of producing parts with a diameter of up to 0.9m and a height of up to 1.4m, with a maximum weight of 500kg.

The modular design of the Arc80X allows users to customize their DED 3D Printer according to their specific requirements. The printing process utilizes traditional metal inert gas welding combined with CAM software and a Sinumerik control architecture. An optional inert gas box facilitates printing in a closed atmosphere, making it suitable for processing materials like titanium.

Both versions feature a CNC-controlled linear axis system with automated functions such as integrated tool measurement, gas nozzle cleaning, and wire cutting. The Arc80X also incorporates a process monitor for recording and storing data during printing to ensure high-quality parts. Temperature tracking is managed through an integrated Sensortherm pyrometer, while an arc cooling system enables local cooling with cooling gas.

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is gaining popularity for its cost-effective approach to manufacturing metal components without the need for assembly or welding. The Arc80X joins Gerfertec’s family of wire-arc 3D printers, alongside the Arc40X and Arc60X models.

Overall, the Arc80X series represents a significant advancement in large-scale metal 3D printing technology, offering versatility, precision, and efficiency for industrial applications.
