April pension payments from GSIS to be released earlier than planned

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has announced that pension payments for old-age, disability, and survivorship pensioners will be released ahead of schedule. In an advisory, GSIS stated that the payments will be available by Saturday, April 6, instead of the usual eighth of the month.

The reason for the early release is to accommodate the upcoming holidays, Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on April 9 and Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) on April 10. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso emphasized the importance of prioritizing the pension payments during these holidays.

With over 580,000 old-age pensioners nationwide, GSIS has allotted almost P8 billion for the monthly pensions. The funds will be electronically credited through the unified multipurpose identification (UMID) card or electronic card (eCard) issued by either the Land Bank of the Philippines or the Union Bank of the Philippines. Pensioners can easily withdraw cash from the nearest automated teller machine (ATM).

During the holidays, GSIS encourages pensioners and members to utilize the GSIS Touch Mobile app for online transactions. The app allows users to apply for loans and claims, check their GSIS records, and complete their Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation (APIR) at their convenience.

This proactive approach by GSIS ensures that pensioners receive their payments on time and have convenient access to their benefits.
